Powertrain!!!!!!

Date: Late 2016 - 13th April 2017

So back at the arse end of 2016 Dad took the engine and transmission down to a secret location in Kent (It not secret but I don't know where is it and it sounds better!!!).

This was for a full nut and bolt rebuild so that as long as the engine was maintained it would not have to be looked at again (There is nothing worse than breaking down and having loads of people rubberneck you as they drive past!!!). Here is the the story of Dad's Trip  and the engine transformation shown again through the medium of pictures!!!!!

Engine out! Now for a clean!!!

Engine clean and we find out its RED!!!!

At Location in Kent.

Yes, its an engine!!!

Off the trailer and on the hoist!

No, its not an engine but a Robin!!!!

Being Hooked up to the see if it runs

From the stance of these two it looked terminal!!!!
Here is a short video of the engine tests

So Dad came back and left it with them to work their magic. Lead time was about 12 weeks so doing this meant we could work on the tub and leaving the experts so sort out the engine = saving time

Here are a few pictures of the day Dad and friend Barry went to pick the engine up.

One the boys down there had been playing with!!!

How clean!

Looks like it has just come out of the box!

Another with detailing on it

And another but hang on this bad boy is a 6 wheeler!!!!!

Dad's engine loaded. Looking like new!!!!

Strapped down and ready to go.

So all we need to do now is finish the tub, brakes, all wiring, paint, new shoes.............

Humm better get our fingers out!!!!!

Busy Busy Busy!!!!

Date: 13th April 2017

Operation: Tub Transformation!

So it has been a while since I have had a chance to update the site and show the progress we have made, as we have been too busy actually doing it!!!!!

So the last blog we were just taking off the 100'000'000 layers of paint and making sure that the tub was as straight as it could be but still looking authentic!!!

So here is a picture trail of the work we have done on the tub!

Note Hole which was found in the rear of the tub when we started to dig deep!

All dash instruments out. Lots of sand found behind the dashboard.

A slight repair needed

A weld part finished

Same weld different angle

Repair complete

Front of the tub in primer

Front different angle

The back AKA a mess!!!

New fuel holder tray being fitted

As you can see all the family got in on the action!

Bracing in ready to cut the floor and back off !

New floor in. Next the back!!!

So as you can see although there has been little additions to the blog we have not been standing around.

Next update is the powertrain!!!
