stripping

Date: 15.3.16

So last week I never made it out as the boy was having an off day so I stayed at home to help Laura out. Added to this Simon was a wee bit tired after working on cars all day (his day Job) so it was just Dad and friend Barry (Baz) who were up for a cold night in the garage. They seemed to crack on and got the front axle off, steering column out so all that was left was the bare frame.  This meant I was greeted with the following picutres when I arrived tonight.

So all that was left to do tonight was strip off the old paint, sand and general muck that had decided to grab a free ride!!!!

Simon who was very upset with his Sealey welder bit the bullet and had gone and brought a different one. It seemed after a battle to get Sealey to look at it and apparently fix it, the kit still didn't work properly and although Si has been welding as a profession for about 20 odd years would not take his word for it that the kit was still not working. I don't like to bad press anyone but as I had a similar issue with a compressor from them we have all made a note to stay well clear of their products in the future!

The new Clarkes one is a great bit of kit and welds great so Si was welding anything he could get his hands on. I even had a go but I think that I will never make a master welder!!!!

So by the end of the night about half of the frame has been taken back to bear metal so again we are a little step closer to getting it back on the road! Still a long way to go though!!!

In other news another little package arrived from Jeep parts UK today. New brake lines already made up and I believe a new master cylinder. Our basic thinking is although we want the Jeep to be as orginal as possible it is important to stop!
